Personal Life
I grew up in a working class family in New Jersey and Delaware; my father is a retired disabled Army veteran (Purple Heart recipient) and my mother worked in administrative and retail roles before retiring. I am the youngest of 4 siblings (2 brothers and 1 sister) and the fun aunt to 7 nibblings and a fur niece.
Growing up I didn’t know much about estate planning; the only thing I knew about trusts was what I learned about trust funds from watching Saved by the Bell and The Nanny. As I got older, I experienced firsthand what poor planning can do to a family. I watched my family struggle to make plans for a loved one and distribute their estate because everyone had a different idea as to what they believed the person wanted. I discovered a few documents can ease the burden on a grieving family.
Education and Career
I received my Bachelor’s Degree in English from the University of Delaware, and an MBA with a specialization in Project and Team Management from Full Sail University. I graduated Cum Laude from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego where I was an active member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution team and Vice President of the Business Law Society.
I am the Vice-Chair of the Estate Planning Division of the San Diego County Bar Association. I have been recognized by the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program for my volunteer legal work assisting victims of domestic violence. In my free time I enjoy volunteering with organizations that provide legal assistance to the indigent and disenfranchised communities. When I am not working or volunteering, I enjoy baking – I love adapting traditional recipes into plant-based goodies (lemon bars and Hummingbird cake are my specialties).
